It is not to live a life of purpose, but rather to live a life of finding our purpose. We all have a destination, and it is every day that we hear of past accomplishments. Yet it is truly a wonder that the focal point is in the process of acquisition more than the acquisition itself. Appreciation of trial subsequently results in the need to sacrifice by virtue of making a change.
Feelings of fulfillment are best attained when they involve giving back more than what we have gained. We are not remembered for our possessions, instead we. are remembered for the decisions we made in spite of them. Our Prophet Muhammad (saw) told us that we will not have faith till we love for our brothers what we love for ourselves. That goes beyond the realm of ownership of the pretty things, alternatively is the reason for a smile or the spark of joy in a brother or sisters heart.
Be the person to ask about someone’s day just because you care. Teach that little boy he deserves so much more than what the world has to offer and to live purely for the sake of Allah (swt). Forgive those who have hurt you mainly for the sake of the subconscious reality that you will want Allah (swt) to be forgiving of you, and who are you to expect forgiveness from The Almighty when you can’t even bring yourself to forgive His creation? Take it upon yourself to relieve the heavy weight of stress on your parents’ shoulders. It is not a defect to have a soft heart.
There are many of us who need that kind word or the hugs to better our days. We more than often take advantage of the life of conveniences where we become accustomed to the world being handed to us on a silver platter, that we lack this reminder: we are merely passing through to another life. The question of the matter is where we truly wish to end up and how we choose to get there.
